We think, “Well this is great for now, but do you expect me to eat this way for the rest of my life? Really? Counting calories and never indulging in ice cream or chicken wings again? It’s not going to happen.” This understandably causes us to become more frustrated, rebel, and give up. At the end of the day, you find yourself hungry and lethargic.

Sometimes it’s not enough to just know WHAT you should be eating or doing; you have to know HOW to do it.

My name is Jennie Fagen, and I’m a Board Certified Health & Nutrition Counselor. Growing up I’ve always LOVED food. I grew up with a household full of boys, so I understood the merits of finishing off your plate. I never wanted to be one of those “girly girls” who ate salad all day long and talked about their weight. Yeah right…

The thing is, although I was never the “fat kid”… except when I was really little (when I was 3 my mom dressed me up all pretty for Halloween. When my uncle came over to visit he asked if I was supposed to be the fat lady from the circus… Not to my face, it’s okay!)… where was I? Ah yes, although I was never the “fat kid” I had a whole other slew of issues going on: constant tummy aches, chronic colds, acid reflux, and no period to be found (with poly cystic ovarian syndrome to boot). 

But there were excuses… “well, my Dad has stomach issues so so do I”… “it’s normal to get a cold every winter”… or my favorite, “no one really knows why so there’s nothing I can do about it.”

My life changed when I learned I had a say in what happens with my health.

As soon as I started learning the right foods and lifestyle changes for me, I found I didn’t get sick after meals, my skin, hair, and nails strengthened and brightened up, I never get sick, I got my first regular periods (consistently to date!), and I was waking up with LOTS of energy.

My approach to nutrition is holistic, which means that I believe it’s more than just the foods we are putting in our bodies that contribute to our health; It’s our lifestyle, environment, physical activity, spirituality, relationships, and mindset as well. As a health coach, my desire is to help you with living a practical and healthy lifestyle where I teach you how to manage and maintain your stress, your weight, and hold you accountable to commit to the version of yourself that is 100% in your power. I believe in making food delicious, convenient, and flexible, and I believe in making changes within your lifestyle that allow you to thrive while still leaving room for flexibility.

I understand that everyone has different needs and I will help you create a completely personalized “roadmap to health” that suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences, and goals.
